SEO for small businesses: where to start

SEO sounds complicated the first time you look into it — technical terms, tools, metrics. In reality, for a small business the first steps are simpler than they seem.

Start with structure, not keywords

Before you think about which keywords to target, make sure your site has a clean structure — clear titles, fast loading, and a proper display on mobile. Without these foundations, no keyword will help you rank.

Connect your site to Google's tools

Google Search Console shows you how Google sees your site — which keywords bring you visitors, which page has a problem. Google Analytics shows what people do once they land on your site. Both are free, and they're the first thing we set up on every SEO project we take on.

Write about what your customers actually ask

Instead of guessing at keywords, think about what your customer would type into Google if they were looking for your service. These natural questions are often more useful than technical keywords with high volume but the wrong intent.

SEO takes time

There's no magic trick that puts you first within a week. Consistent work on structure, content, and technical details adds up month after month.
